Downhill Final in Mona Yongpyong

ASA VERMETTE - THE MAN OF THE DAY
You couldn’t ask for more—what a race!!
First year in the elite category, first World Cup in Asia, first round of the 2026 World Series—and first in qualifying… and of course, first in the final! Asa Vermette couldn’t have asked for more. And neither could the spectators! What a race, what a show!

In the elite women’s category, Vali Höll had a crash yesterday in qualifying—but she meant business today. She was 15 seconds faster, stopping the clock at 3:14.778. Still, it wasn’t the fastest women’s time of the day. That honor went to the junior category, where Aletha Ostgaard set an impressive 3:13.937!

In the junior men’s race, Jonty Williamson took the win with a time of 2:50.589. That’s more than 7 seconds slower than Vermette—but still fast enough to place inside the top 20 of the elite field. It’s always interesting to compare, as juniors sometimes take more risks and can even match or beat elite times—but not today.

Unfortunately, Jackson Goldstone crashed about three-quarters down the track and ended up in 26th place. Before the crash, he was on a winning run!
The same goes for Amaury Pierron—he was leading until his crash. At least he managed to save it and still finished in 3rd place in the end!

TEAM OF THE DAY - COMMENCAL/MUC-OFF BY RIDING ADDICTION
It was a really exciting race—and a very different track than usual. Super interesting to watch and see how everything unfolded on this constantly changing course at Mona Yongpyong.
